Hello guys! This is my last blog and it’s about English, how much I learnt, how much is still missed and how I will keep practicing.

My experience learning English at university was very different than usual. I liked a lot because I really appreciate those people who I shared with and that was really fun. I think this course was pretty good because we had the chance to learn a lot about some cultures that we don’t associate to the English culture very often. One thing I would’ve liked to learn deeper is English applied to Dentistry, that would be really useful so if you can add it next year, you should for sure!

About the blogs, I think it was very good to have the opportunity to know other things about people I spend almost my whole time with because University is so time-absorbing that sometimes you don’t know your mate at all.

What aspects I think I must improve is some speaking skills because here is very difficult to practice that, even though we had our teacher drawing attention to us. I think the most successful way to improve your speaking is being surrounded by people who don’t understand your native language so you’re forced to do it because you have no alternatives.

How much am I using English outside the class? A lot!!, well, not that much compared with how I used to because a couple of years ago I used to call some friends from other countries and we had to talk in English because we speak different languages. I use English with some friends when we are in a dangerous situation, when we think there is someone who’s trying to steal, we talk in English to plan what we will do.

I use English when I listen to music or when I watch TV shows, I used to read some books in English but I don’t like to do it in Spanish either.

I use English when I’m drunk as well, I don’t know why but I’ve done it many times.

Changes to my study programme

Hello, today I’m talking about my study programme and some changes that could be done.

I think the curriculum is ok, I mean, the things we study they’re worth to be learnt because you have to understand biological basis, anatomical basis, physics and chemistry to be able to understand more difficult things as pharmacology, physiology, pathology, biochemistry and all those things. Well, when you get to the clinic, everything changes, I think the subjects are friendlier (not really) and related to Odontology, but it’s also really stressful because you have to struggle with all the patient stuff.

About the workload, I think it’s too much, TOO MUCH (maybe I’m overacting but it has to sound dramatic), well it’s fine because you have the chance to learn a lot and that’s great but when the exams are coming, you only want to die. Comparing this university workload with some others, it’s very different (much more) and I think that has some pros and cons.

Let’s talk about the Faculty facilities, it’s disastrous, it’s not so bad but the fact that we don’t even have toilet paper and we use a broom as a kind of antenna (not joking, look at the administrative building from Machu) is shameful. Also, the turbins and high/low speed handpiece that we have are very old. I could talk a lot about this issue but I’m not at the clinic yet so I’m not able to do it so accurate.

Related to the use of technology and teaching methods, I think they’re acceptable but of course they could be improved.

Something that I wouldn’t change about the university is the “Mala clase” group, so please study guys <3, I want we all to pass.

Summer plans

Hi everyone, today we’re talking about our summer plans. It’s something very exciting for all because we’re gonna be finally on vacations (hopefully).

Well, my summer plans are: first of all, to pass my courses (in December please, I don’t wanna be here in Santiago until next year waiting for exams).

This summer I’m going to the desert with some friends in January and probably I’m going to the south to meet some old friends and we’re going to the mountains! (I love mountains). We always meet at summer in Araucanìa Region (it's my favorite place in the country so far) because we’re from different parts of the country and it’s very difficult to meet during the year, but once we’re together again it’s like always, we keep on being friends. I miss them, we don’t talk very often but I know they are always there. Having friends along the country is something really good because you don't have to worry about accommodation and those things, you  only have to worry about getting there and you can save a lot of money.

With my family, we are probably going to some beach near my house but the thing I love the most about this summer is the fact that my parents won’t have to work neither in January nor February because they work in two different schools in my town, as a school inspector and administrative things. Now, there is a law that allows all the workers of schools and high schools (not only teachers) to have vacations in January and February. I’m gonna be with them more time than usual!

Another thing I like about the summer is festivals! I usually go to “Fiesta de la Independencia” in Talca, the crowd is crazy, we’re 150.000 people! It’s the second week of February and they bring very good artists. It seems like they wanted to hire Daddy Yankee this year but I don’t know if they did it.

I hope you all enjoy this summer because we have worked really hard during the whole year, we deserve it.

Series

Today I have to talk about series, and I don’t watch series, so I don’t know how this blog will be. I’m sorry if I disappoint you but...

I know I’m a weirdo since I don’t watch series, you’re allowed top ut your hate down there in the comments.

However, I must do this so I will talk about the first series that came into my mind. That is… (drumroll) BKN.

I know you’re laughing your ass out at this moment but I remember this series and its music so I’m writing about it.

BKN was a chilean series, I’d say that this was the longest one because it had 295 EPISODES in 11 SEASONS and I’m sure you watched it, maybe not the whole series but you should know what it was about so I won’t explain it.

I just want to remember some things about BKN. For example, the main character Claudia, she was so dramatic, I hated her, she cried the whole episode when she had to come back to Temuco with her mother. My favorite character was Gaby and Nacho, they were so funny, I also loved Cata because I love that actress, I follow her on Instagram and she’s just perfect (follow her: @coni_piccoli… Follow her sister too: @romi_piccoli).

Something interesting is that a friend of mine is Javier Castillo’s cousin, I got very excited when I knew (I actually didn’t mind but I have to tell you something).

The music was so iconic, maybe it’s not the best but I keep singing “porque si estás tú conmigo…” sometimes. (give it a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBkYBcUiiRk)

The most interesting thing is that BKN had english subtitles and MINEDUC gave it a recognition for it. Now, we have many of memes of it and I enjoy it a lot. I’ll let you some ones here.

Postgraduate Studies

Hi everyone, hope you’re doing well, today I have to talk about a course I would like to do. It’s hard for me thinking about studying something else because after this year, I think that I have studied everything a man can study in his life, it’s been really time demanding and sometimes I think I can’t do it.

So, if you ask me about what I would like to study after this career, I’d say nothing at the moment. But, to talk about something right now, I’d like to talk about Geography.

I have always loved Geography, I had a subject when I went on exchange and we studied many things as population, hydrography, mountains, oceans, cities and people. I remember my teacher was obsessed with India, she always gave the India example for everything. I miss her, I miss many things at this point of the year.

While studying Geography, I would like to learn many subjects like Demography, Urban Development, 

Environment Issues, Economy, Weather or Climatology, Hydrography, I see me studying oceans, deserts, islands, glaciers, countries, mountains, volcanoes and weather, the way that people live in different parts of the world and how the geography influence its lifestyle.

I would like to study abroad and I would like to study as a part-time course because if I want to study abroad, I have to pay all my stuff so I would need a job to live well in another country.

I also think that Astrology and all that stuff are very interesting, I’d like to learn more about those topics as well.

The job of my dreams

Hi guys, I know you missed me this Tuesday, sorry about that.

Well, today I have to talk about my future job and how I imagine it. I’m not sure about it, I’d like to do so many things, but if I have to think about something…

I would be an influencer, haha, I’ve always wished to be something like that because you can get gifts and money easily (like “canje”).

Now, as a dentist, I see myself working here in Santiago, Concepción, Temuco or Punta Arenas, I really like those cities from the south, and I wouldn’t like to work only in one place, I would like to work in two different cities, hopefully in the center and in the south so I can travel constantly.

About the salary, I wanna be a billionaire so freakin’ bad, buy all of the things I never had, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine smiling next to Oprah and the Queen HAHA no, just kidding (I love that song btw). I just want to live peaceful and carefree, getting the money enough to get a house, a car and those things.

I still don’t know what major I will study (if I’m actually studying one) because I think that there is many things to come and saying something at this point is premature yet.

Something that I wouldn’t like is to work alone, I thing it’s very sad and deppresive working lonely, I hope none of us has to work like that.

Ghett'a Life Review

Hi everyone! Today we watched Ghett’a Life, a Jamaican movie about politics, boxing and shootings.

I have already told you that I don’t like so much watching movies, and this one wasn’t the exception (again), but at least I watched the whole movie and didn’t miss some parts like I did with the previous one.

My favorite character was Manuel and Derrick’s mother. I liked them both because they weren’t as politic-influenced as the other people. They always supported Derrick and didn’t worry about what people would say (Dawn did but I loved her anyways).

One thing I liked about the movie was definitely the music, it was really good, I saw Tatiana giving her best while songs were playing. Another thing I liked was how Ana was so concentrated, she enjoyed a lot, she celebrated when something good happened and suffered when something bad happened, she was really into the movie. The thing I didn’t like was the situation in Jamaica, I think politics suck and if you get involve with it, you’re done.

My favorite scene was when Manuel told Derrick “name it, claim it, tame it”. I think that quote sums up what the movie wanted to deliver to us.

I didn't like any photo about the movie so I put some Jamaican people just because.

Suffragette review

Well, I don’t really enjoy watching movies and it wasn’t the exception to be honest (sorry about that). Today we watched “Suffragette” which is a British movie about women's suffrage in the United Kingdom. 

I didn’t like the movie not because it’s a bad movie or something like that, it’s just that I’m not into movies, it’s very hard for me to be all time concentrated and I’m always fight against falling sleep.

I have to talk about this movie but I prefer to talk about the historical period in which history takes place, I mean the “vote for women”.

It’s hard for me to imagine that someone could disagree with that cause, but there were plenty of them in the movie, they didn’t want women to vote because they said women had not the same mental capacity as men had.

My favorite character was Violet, Maud’s workmate. Violet (and Edith as well) was always encouraging everyone and I think that is the best way to persuade someone, she had to be left out of the cause because of her pregnancy but she was clear to tell everyone not to give up.

The thing I liked the most about this movie was that they finally got their purpose, they got the cause which they fought for. There were many things that I hated, for example, when Maud was caught up and got locked (way too violent by the way); or when Sonny didn’t let Maud to enter after she was arrested, he gave their child up for adoption, that was really heartbreaking.

My favorite scene was the final one (because it was about to end, I’m just kidding) because they finally made it, they were heard worldwide.

Best concert ever

I haven’t been to many concerts in my life (just 3 or 4 “big concerts”). The most memorable ones are Bruno Mars and Maroon 5.

Bruno Mars concert was just last year (in November) in National Stadium here in Santiago, it was my first concert in such a huge coliseum (I was there before for a Copa America’s match but it’s not the same) it was amazing. I was at the floor section and I was really tired. I arrived to the stadium at 8 am because I wanted to be in the front row, of course. I remember I got sunburned really bad (you can see my shoulder on the photo, of course I covered my face).

Well, the real name of Bruno Mars is Peter Gene Hernandez Bayot (I don’t really know if they use their mother last name). He was born in Honolulu on October 25^th, 1985 (he’s 33 now). He is one of the best-selling artists of all time and his voice is gorgeous. I got so many things to say about him but I don’t want you to read that much.

The atmosphere there was really good, we all were so excited. I remember we sung all his songs during the wait. I went with a friend and we met 4 people else there, one of them was really funny and we did a video for his YouTube channel, I never had said “don’t forget to subscribe and like the video” (DON’T TRY TO SEARCH IT).

The concert was unforgettable, and all the feelings you can imagine, we felt. We smiled, we cried, we didn’t want him to stop singing, we didn’t want it to end.

Before Bruno Mars show, DNCE were performing at the stage, and it also was amazing, I wasn’t expected to enjoy that band the way I did, I didn’t know them so much.

Nevertheless, it wasn’t my best experience in a concert (it actually was but I’d say there is another show that is my best experience as well). You can stop reading here, but I wanted to post this as well.

In 2015, when I was on exchange in New Zealand, we went to the Maroon 5 show and we got to be in the front row that time. One weird fact is that Adam Levine threw his towel to us and we caught the half of it, some Chinese people caught the other half so we fought for the towel, finally a guard took it away so nobody got it.

I could be writing all day but I think is enough, thank you for reading so far, I’ll try to make it shorter next time.

A country I would like to visit

There are plenty of countries I’d like to visit, I think there are so many wonderful places in the world that deserves to be visited so it's really hard for me to choose only one.

Some of the countries I would like to visit are here in Latin America, very close to Chile and I know I will go there, so I’m going to write about a place a little bit harder to go.

Well, one of the countries I would like to visit as soon as possible (if they let me get in) is the United States of America because I think it’s the most amazing country in the world (I know there are so many people that hate this country because of its system, its historical repression, the way they use their power and its supposed supremacy over the rest of the world, and I respect their opinion, even I share it in some cases).

What do I know about USA? Many things! I know it has fifty states (I learned them all when I was younger), I know it has a big population; they are the reference for many things, etc.

What I’d like to do there is to travel around the whole country (from Seattle to Miami and from Maine to San Diego), meeting people and getting full of memories to share with family and friends and keeping those memories pretty well kept in my heart. I think the best way to know a culture is by living there, so I would like to either study or work over there. Of course that I would like to just go on vacations and enjoy all the landscapes in California, the music in Louisiana, the skyscrapers in New York or Illinois, the study culture in Massachusetts or North Carolina, the country stuff in Tennessee, spending the time partying and printing some sights to remember everytime I see them.

I hope I can go there soon and everywhere as well.
